I wasn't looking for another lightweight chair. I was looking for one that wouldn't take over my house. The Carbon F1 folds low enough that it slides neatly into a corner of our laundry room, so it's always out of the way when I'm not using it.

My daughter usually helps me load the chair. She noticed the difference before I did. It's much easier for her to lift than the one I owned before, and neither of us dreads loading it anymore.

The removable battery has been more convenient than I expected. I leave the chair in the garage and bring the battery inside to charge overnight. It fits our routine much better.

Turning around in small places used to be frustrating. At my doctor's office I can get into the exam room without backing up several times. That may not sound like much, but it makes every visit easier.

We flew to visit our son in April. Between the airport, the hotel and a few restaurants, the chair never felt like a burden to travel with. Everything folded up quickly when we needed it to.

One feature I didn't expect to appreciate so much was the flip-up armrest. I can pull much closer to the kitchen table now, and getting in and out of the chair feels more natural.

We spent quite a bit of time comparing folding power wheelchairs before choosing the Carbon F1. What finally convinced us wasn't one single feature—it was how everything worked together. The folded size fits comfortably in our crossover without taking up the whole cargo area, the battery is easy to remove for charging, and it's light enough that loading it has become part of our routine instead of a chore. We've used it for shopping, medical appointments, visiting family and one weekend getaway already. It simply fits into our everyday life without asking us to change the way we live.

One thing I kept wondering before buying was whether it would actually fit in my small SUV without taking everything else out. It does. We still have room for groceries, my walker, and a couple of overnight bags.
